Bonhams, the international fine art auction house, opened the doors of its new Hong Kong office on the 15th January 2007. Located in one of the most prestigious commercial and retail premises in South East Asia, Bonhams is based at 1508, Two Pacific Place. The move marks Bonhams ongoing plans for global growth in the world's major centres for auctioning art and reinforces its position as one of the world's leading auctioneers.

Established in 1793, Bonhams today has offices and salerooms in more than 25 countries on five continents and offers more auctions than any other auction house - 700 each year. The company has 50 specialist departments, many headed by world authorities in their field.

Bonhams will host its first three auctions, comprising Contemporary Asian Art, Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art, and The Green Willow Hall Collection of Jade Carvings on Saturday 26 May at the Asia International Arts and Antiques Fair 2007 to be held at Hong Kong's dramatic and newest exhibition centre, the Asia World Expo.

Chairman of Bonhams Asia, Colin Sheaf, says: "Opening an office in Hong Kong marks the crossing of another art market frontier in Bonhams' global development. It is part of a strategic decision to increase our international company's presence in Asia. We see this auction business in Hong Kong as a springboard to a new client base and activities as far afield as China, Japan, India, South Korea, Indonesia and Singapore."
