Royal Society of Marine Artists: Annual Exhibition
Exhibition: 17th Oct 2007 to 28th Oct 2007
Source: http://www.mallgalleries.org.uk
The annual exhibition by some of the world's leading marine artists this year introduces a new award for Young Marine Artists, sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights. Prizewinning and selected works submitted for this prize will appear in the show alongside the RSMA's established masters, bringing exciting new ideas to bear on our constant theme, "celebrating the sea".
The exhibition will be held at The Mall Galleries, 17 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5BD. The internationally-renowned Royal Society of Marine Artists exists to celebrate the sea in all its aspects. This year the Society is looking for new young artistic talent, offering £ 700-worth of prizes and the chance to exhibit work in the 2007 annual show alongside leading British and international marine artists. Young artists aged 16 - 25 are invited to submit their work. Entries are welcome both from artists who have a marine interest, and from people involved with the sea - marine industry, youth organisations, or marine sports - who think they have artistic talent to offer. All art media are acceptable, including paint, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, and sculpture (gallery contraints do not admit installations or video). The maritime theme must be the inspiration. This can include the sea itself, the coast and seaside, ships and sailing craft, beaches and wildlife, portraits and people, history, or anything else that goes with the sea. Work must be submitted to the Mall Galleries, London SW1, on 14th/15th September 2007. |
