“The family firm of John Bly has been synonymous with Fine Antiques, Works of Art, Consultancy and Advice on all matters related for more than One Hundred Years.

In continuance with this tradition the present John Bly is constantly seeking contemporary top-level products to complement the luxurious environment created by his pieces from history.

The Bly family have been dealers in Tring since the early 19th century. An ancient letterhead proclaimed "John Bly - Antique Dealers since the reign of William IV". But it was the grandfather of the present John Bly who first showed a serious love and appreciation of old furniture and established his own business in the centre of Tring in 1891.

In 1991, the firm's 100th year, John Bly opened showrooms in Bury Street, St. James's, London. The business still operates from Tring with showrooms and extensive workshops.

From the two locations, John Bly provides the same services that his grandfather established; fine antiques bought and sold, full valuations, and cabinet making and restoration of the highest order.

The present John Bly worked for Sotheby's before joining the family firm. He now has his own programme networked on ITV entitled "Heirloom" and is a regular contributor on BBC Television's "Antiques Roadshow", "The Great Antiques Hunt" and "Going for a Song".”
